UM CURE 2020 Research

Martine J. Jager from Leiden University Medical Center determinant initiator of the UM CURE 2020 consortium and project, discusses current research in Uveal Melanoma.

UM CURE 2020 Research

The overall concept behind our UM Cure 2020 project is the establishment and exploitation of a unique collection of metastatic UM samples (allowing for a better comprehension of the disease and the implementation of innovative valuable models) and the development of new patient resources across Europe with the ambitious goal of efficiently treating metastatic UM, a rare lethal disease.

Our team of excellence integrates transdisciplinary preclinical biology-driven approaches aimed at a successful UM cure, with the capacity for translation into the clinic via an international clinical network and close collaborations with pharma and biotechnology companies. As a continuum from basic and translational research, up until the preclinical validation of new therapeutic strategies for metastatic UM patients, our project aims to push the development of new therapeutic strategies with eyes set on the initiation of clinical trials
